Limited edition, signed and numbered giclee on paper. 24" x 30". Edition of 100.
As part of my "Masterworks Series: Through Gilbert's Eyes", this piece is a tribute to Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring" There will be 12 original works in the series honoring artists, old world to new, who have inspired me. My "Pearl Earring" honors the old master's genre, and Vermeer's famous style, but I've switched it up by featuring a beautiful black woman (my wife modeled) and I've hidden one of my socio-political messages. You know I have to speak to what's going on in the streets today! Do you see it?
Ok, ok! It's in the earring. See the shadow of a man? He has his hands up.
